Christmas 2008

Well we made it through another December (woo). It seems to just come and go, there is so much to do and so much excitement. We spent lots of time with family doing family things and of course eating. I think we gain a whole of 20 lbs between the four of us. We had a great Christmas, the kids were happy and so where we. We are so lucky to be so close to so many people who we love and enjoy, although heck tick I don't think we could do it any other way. So thanks to all for a wonderful Christmas season.

One Hairy Suprise

So check this out. I some how got convinced that I should dress up as a gorilla and help my girl friend surprise her husband at work for his Birthday. Well as you can see I was a total sucker and went along for the ride. When it was all said and done we had a good time and I think he was pretty surprised. Thanks for letting me be a part of this humiliation, I would love to do it again sometime. Next time though lets hope they don't think were strippers.
Happy Birthday Jason.

Christmas activities 08

This year we went up to our Nana and Papa's house and put together our annual gingerbread house with all of our aunts, uncles and cousins. We had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year. Then the following weekend we went and saw Bolt with my family then went to see the lights. This was the first day of a really big snow storm so it was kind of fun having fresh snow, it made it feel more like the holiday season. We had fun at the movie but getting into salt lake wasn't the easiest we weren't aware that there was a conference at the conference center so it was almost impossible to find parking, but after driving around for about 30 minutes we managed to find a spot. We then had to walk several blocks to get to the temple grounds. We ended up have a fun time, although I think we have had are fill of downtown for awhile.

Pheasant Hunt 08

This year during the pheasant hunt we were lucky to have my two nephews in town to visit. They were really excited that they were able to tag along with there uncle Jay and cousins for the hunt. Jay was lucky enough to round up two really nice looking pheasants this year and they were also able to get a good look at a really nice buck along the way.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was full of surprises. Trevin came home from school on Wednesday and announce that he had been chosen in his class as the best turkey gobbler and he received a large Hersey candy bar. We were all so proud, I guess it may have something to do with the fact that he is completely fascinated by all birds, plus my sister and I are always trying to make him make gobbling noises. Then on Thanksgiving morning we ventured out to do a little shopping before it was time to do the cooking. We managed to hit two stores and make it home in time for breakfast. That afternoon I put the Turkey into the roaster and continued to prepare for the feast. Well you see I was hosting this year and all seemed to be going well until about 10 minutes before everyone arrived, and my meat thermometer just wouldn't work. I call my dad and he brought his, an hour and a half later than planned we figured out that my roaster wasn't working properly. So we improvised and made it through. All in all we had a great day just spending time together as a family.

Birthday gift certificate

Today I went out to the Mall on a mission. I was looking for a new jacket. My current jacket is in a sad state and I needed to replace it. Lucky for me three of my good girlfriends gave me a mall gift certificate for my Birthday so I went shopping. After many stores and many different jackets I finally found one that fit the bill. When I got home I walked right up to the garbage can and tossed my old one in with out any regrets. That jacket has been my favorite for many years and I hope the new one fills it spot well. Thanks to my friends for the great gift it was well needed and will be well worn.

My Birthday Dinner

Since my Birthday is on Halloween we generally have to celebrate it on another night because we are always so busy with the holiday. This year we had made arrangements to go up to Salt Lake City and see Dracula Vs. the Hunchback at the Off Broadway Theater ( I would totally recommend going up and seeing a show or laughing stock it is so much fun). We decided to stop at the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. We had never been there before and we were really impressed the food was fantastic and there menu was extremely extensive. They definitely cater to everyone. Plus there cheesecake was fabulous. The only thing missing was my little girl, but we figured she would have more fun at McDonald with Nana.

Halloween 08

Once again we made it through another Halloween. Although the days and weeks prior we were busy with countless family party's, school programs and activity's we managed to make it with out a fight. Trevin went as a Vampire bat and Teagan went as a China girl and boy didn't they just look fantastic. I have to say thanks to everyone for all the fun and we can't wait until next year ( that is everyone but mom).

Bow Hunt 08

This was the first year that Jay R. put in for a bow tag and he got one. He was pretty excited about it and so was Trevin. Well there luck came through one Friday evening he jumped on the four wheeler with both the kids and the bow to see if there was anything they could see. Well about five minutes after they left they came flying back to the cabin. I guess they just got up and around the bend and there stood this little two point. Well Jay just couldn't pass it up. He said Trevins eyes were as round as a tuna can, so he let her rip and he actually hit on the first try. Way to go dad! Lucky for us our good friend Owen was there who is also a pro at skinning and gutting a deer so he did all the dirty work for us. He even took the meat home and cut and packed it. We have actually eaten several steaks of this big guy and they were delicious. Thanks to Owen for all your help and hospitality.

Firestation

Teagan went on her first field trip to the Mapleton fire station. She wasn't so sure about the whole idea and kept asking me if they were going to tie her up. So after a little persuasion we made it through. They told them all about fire safety, let them try on the fire uniform and they even went for a ride in the fire truck.

Cornbellies

We went to cornbellies on Friday Sept. 26th with my sister and her family. We chose this day because Jay was working in AF and would be able to meet us there for a couple of hours. We were pretty upset about our visit this year because we payed the full price and then they didn't even have all of the fun stuff up and running yet. My kids were really unhappy that they didn't get to go on the big hay ride.

After we left there we went to Wingers for lunch which was pretty tasty and then we came home and Jay went back to work. I think we will think twice before we return.

Dog in a Funnel...

My dog Copper developed a sore under his armpit and I have been trying for about 1 1/2 weeks to get it to heal but he keeps licking it over and over, so bad that I have been losing sleep listening to him lick. Well today was the final straw, I have had it. I decided that I would construct a funnel collar so that he couldn't reach around and lick. I found this old piece of poster board that I had made a birthday poster out of for Trevins preschool class and cut it then stapled it around his neck. So far he isn't enjoying it to well. Hopefully he will now be on the road to recovery.

Boredom

Okay, so here I am on a Wednesday afternoon with absolutely nothing fun to do. I could come up with about fifty million things that I need to do but none of them seem to be all that exciting or rewarding. I guess after reading all the fun and exciting things that everyone else has posted that maybe I would post about how sometimes there just really isn't anything to post.

Sincerely,

Desperately Seeking Excitement (or I may just fall asleep).

OCD...

Okay, so I just read a blog from a friend about people assuming that just because she does certain things that she has OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). Well after ready a comment that her mother made I have to totally agree and say, why isn't it okay to just be a clean person and like everything in its place. I know I would rather just keep up on it so that I don't spend a whole Saturday clean and scrubbing instead of spending time with my family. My house still tends to get dirty from time to time just like everyone else's, but I feel less anxious and stressed when everything is in its place. So call me crazy but there it is all on the line, and you know what I don't even feel bad about it. I run with a pack of OCD obsessed friends and family (you know who you are) and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Preschool

Teagan started preschool this year and how excited she was to go. I know I have said it before but I just can't believe that my darling little girl is growing up. We have finally hit a mile marker that I have been waiting for. I now have two mornings a week that I am absolutely kid free. I am thrilled because now I can work, go grocerie shopping, clean the house, etc... with out some one asking for something, making a total mess or having a nervous break down. And Teagan is thrilled to finally be in school. She liked her first day so much that her Teacher Mrs. Sheppard (also her nana) had to call and tell me not to pick her up because she was hysterical that she had to leave, so my inlaws brought her home instead. I feel like I am starting to get a piece of myself back and I am enjoying my kids more ( not that I didn't enjoy them before but to be honest we just got sick of each other ) I can't wait to see them after school is out and talk to them about there day, and I think that they feel more fulfilled to be learning.

Tagged...

Thanks to Lu I guess that I have to come up with some answers about myself so here it goes...

3 Joys...
1. Probably the one thing that brings me the most joy is my family.
2. And to all of you others out there namely my friends, yes you bring me joy to.
3. Crafting, I really enjoy doing thing with my hands, and seeing the creation at the end.

3 Fears...
1. I have to agree with Lu, Grasshoppers. I have for years thought that they are just the most revolting thing out there. The way they just randomly jump out at you ahhh.
2. Pregnancy, I know I know how could I think that this is scary. Probably because I am really comfortable in my life right now, so I guess if I were to get pregnant I would probably freck out for about one day and then I would move on.
3. Loss of a loved one, who wouldn't fear this.

3 Goals...
1. Making it through another school year
2. I would love to build my clientelle in my salon. Now that Trevin will be in school all day and Teagan is in preschool why not.
3. Be more patient with everything in my life.

3 Obsessions...
1. Coke, I know this is pretty sad but I just function better with one.
2. Telephone, I have to get in all the days gossip while I can.
3. Friends, I for some reason feel the need to check in on everyone randomly and make sure all is well I hope it isn't to annoying.

3 Random Facts....
1. I weighed 11 lbs 3 oz when I was born ( my poor mother ).
2. I really like ketchup on leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches. ( I learned this from my Grandpa Greenhalgh).
3. My favorite treat is a Apple pie carmel apple from the rocky mountain chocolate factory (good thing there isn't one closer than orem or I would be in trouble).

California Adventure

So we returned to California Adventure on Monday our last full day in California and our kids liked it a lot better than Disneyland. I think this is because the characters at California Adventure are the more modern characters like Monsters inc and Bugs Life.
All Teagan wanted to do the whole time we were there was see the princesses so I forked out the money and took her to Arials Grotto for lunch. We were able to meet all the princesses and eat lunch with them to, Jay was a little jealous when we met back up because I indulged in a Long Island ice tea and was more relaxed so I guess I was dealing with the whining better. At the end of the day we went into one of the Stores and Jay bought us all some mementos to take home with us. All in all this was a pretty good vacation. Everyone had a great time and we all got along really well. Plus we were able to spend some time with our good friends and neighbors the Puglseys. Thanks so much once again for all the hospitality we won't forget this vacation ever.

Manhatten Beach

On Sunday we went to Manhattan Beach, this was probably the funnest place for the kids. They loved playing in the sand and the ocean. I on the other hand just like sitting on my beach towel and soaking up some sun ( I know sun cancer I wore 30 spf the whole time). What we didn't plan on was that they were having a volleyball tournament that day so there were tons of people there, oh well we still enjoyed ourselves.

Santa Monica Pier

Saturday night after Curtis returned from work we went to Santa Monica Pier. This was a pretty cool experience for Jay and the kid, they had never been on a big pier like that before. We walked up and down and let the kids play some of the game at the arcade then we went to Bubba Gumps for dinner. The food was fabulous and they make a mean Pomegranate Margarita.
