Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was full of surprises. Trevin came home from school on Wednesday and announce that he had been chosen in his class as the best turkey gobbler and he received a large Hersey candy bar. We were all so proud, I guess it may have something to do with the fact that he is completely fascinated by all birds, plus my sister and I are always trying to make him make gobbling noises. Then on Thanksgiving morning we ventured out to do a little shopping before it was time to do the cooking. We managed to hit two stores and make it home in time for breakfast. That afternoon I put the Turkey into the roaster and continued to prepare for the feast. Well you see I was hosting this year and all seemed to be going well until about 10 minutes before everyone arrived, and my meat thermometer just wouldn't work. I call my dad and he brought his, an hour and a half later than planned we figured out that my roaster wasn't working properly. So we improvised and made it through. All in all we had a great day just spending time together as a family.

Birthday gift certificate

Today I went out to the Mall on a mission. I was looking for a new jacket. My current jacket is in a sad state and I needed to replace it. Lucky for me three of my good girlfriends gave me a mall gift certificate for my Birthday so I went shopping. After many stores and many different jackets I finally found one that fit the bill. When I got home I walked right up to the garbage can and tossed my old one in with out any regrets. That jacket has been my favorite for many years and I hope the new one fills it spot well. Thanks to my friends for the great gift it was well needed and will be well worn.

My Birthday Dinner

Since my Birthday is on Halloween we generally have to celebrate it on another night because we are always so busy with the holiday. This year we had made arrangements to go up to Salt Lake City and see Dracula Vs. the Hunchback at the Off Broadway Theater ( I would totally recommend going up and seeing a show or laughing stock it is so much fun). We decided to stop at the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. We had never been there before and we were really impressed the food was fantastic and there menu was extremely extensive. They definitely cater to everyone. Plus there cheesecake was fabulous. The only thing missing was my little girl, but we figured she would have more fun at McDonald with Nana.

Halloween 08

Once again we made it through another Halloween. Although the days and weeks prior we were busy with countless family party's, school programs and activity's we managed to make it with out a fight. Trevin went as a Vampire bat and Teagan went as a China girl and boy didn't they just look fantastic. I have to say thanks to everyone for all the fun and we can't wait until next year ( that is everyone but mom).

Bow Hunt 08

This was the first year that Jay R. put in for a bow tag and he got one. He was pretty excited about it and so was Trevin. Well there luck came through one Friday evening he jumped on the four wheeler with both the kids and the bow to see if there was anything they could see. Well about five minutes after they left they came flying back to the cabin. I guess they just got up and around the bend and there stood this little two point. Well Jay just couldn't pass it up. He said Trevins eyes were as round as a tuna can, so he let her rip and he actually hit on the first try. Way to go dad! Lucky for us our good friend Owen was there who is also a pro at skinning and gutting a deer so he did all the dirty work for us. He even took the meat home and cut and packed it. We have actually eaten several steaks of this big guy and they were delicious. Thanks to Owen for all your help and hospitality.

Firestation

Teagan went on her first field trip to the Mapleton fire station. She wasn't so sure about the whole idea and kept asking me if they were going to tie her up. So after a little persuasion we made it through. They told them all about fire safety, let them try on the fire uniform and they even went for a ride in the fire truck.

Cornbellies

We went to cornbellies on Friday Sept. 26th with my sister and her family. We chose this day because Jay was working in AF and would be able to meet us there for a couple of hours. We were pretty upset about our visit this year because we payed the full price and then they didn't even have all of the fun stuff up and running yet. My kids were really unhappy that they didn't get to go on the big hay ride.

After we left there we went to Wingers for lunch which was pretty tasty and then we came home and Jay went back to work. I think we will think twice before we return.
